C02 Energy, Climate, and Faith

Energy, Climate, and Faith: Building Shared Understanding for Wise Choices.
In this workshop, we will explore energy and climate questions through the lens of our Christian faith and our call to seek the common good. Participants will build a practical understanding of how energy systems work and why energy policy choices inevitably involve trade-offs.
 
Together we will consider how people of faith can hold seemingly competing commitments in both head and heart, such as expanding access to affordable, reliable energy while also working to reduce emissions. Participants will be introduced to a framework for thinking about these tensions and for evaluating the many energy and climate proposals that shape public policy and public conversation.
 
The session concludes with a brief faith-rooted sending moment that gathers the learning together. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how energy shapes the lives of all people, a practical framework for thinking about energy and climate policy at local, state, and national levels, and concrete ideas for what to do next—whether that means learning more, sharing these insights with others, or helping shape thoughtful and compassionate public policy.
 
This session is appropriate for participants from middle school age and up.
