Google Doc that has tabs for each of our weeks working together.
Homework from Bear from 3/30/25: Here’s the names and pronouns chapter I promised you: https://www.dropbox.com/t/7e0ufCV4OllmN0cj Please review it, on Sunday you will get to practice explaining it to someone.
Below, for the rest of your homework, please enjoy a little collection of current nonbinary jokes and creators I’m enjoying on Instagram and TikTok. This is in part because this is a fun way to learn, but among these are also some great examples of the “mirror” concept from Dr Rudine Sims Bishop that we discussed briefly in the first session - this is work that’s created by and for the group of people who will feel represented in it, not with the primary audience of people who are new to the concept in mind. These are all between 15 seconds and 2 minutes, so there’s about 10m of videos here.
Beyond that, learning who is speaking interestingly about a topic will allow you to continue to refine your own best practices in language and concept frames after the end of the course, when the conversation continues you can keep watching and listening and learning. You may be more interested in reading things than watching but the same value applies - continuing to engage with work being made in the space where trans and nonbinary people are talking about ourselves to an audience we expect shares parts of our experience. (But also, if you hope to talk to people under 35 ever, some watching is… probably a good idea.)
