for attendees

What to expect

Women clergy from places across Provinces V and VI are coming together in retreat with  the theme of “Connections”.

Open Space
This will not be a typical conference with a tight schedule and carefully controlled program.  We have designed this retreat in an Open Space Technology format with a very basic schedule.  There will be dedicated time for worship, large group check-ins and meals. Because participants bring their wisdom, creativity and curiosity, we will co-create most of our time when we are together and to honor these gifts.  Open Space allows participants to offer topics for conversation.  These topics are announced and given a time and place to happen.  Once the various conversation topics are organized, participants make their own plans about how to spend their time.

Two facilitators will guide this process for us and  there are a few guidelines that will also help guide the process.  We hope you will come willing to explore and share.

Maker Space
We invite you to share tangible, physical projects in a Maker Space during a 90 minute session on Monday evening. Examples include a prayer loom, prayer beads, or Jesus bracelets - but you are invited to share whatever is meaningful to you. You will need to bring whatever materials are necessary if you want people to participate hands on. If you prefer, you may bring directions only and give a demonstration, without having other people participate in a hands on way. Or, you can take a blended approach. For instance, the person bringing a prayer loom plans to bring a small version that is already assembled, with directions on how to make a full size model. Participants will be able to use yarn to weave their prayers and experience the prayer loom, but will not build their own. All Maker Space demonstrations will occur at the same time, with participants choosing which one(s) to attend. Please let us know if you plan to bring something for the Maker Space by emailing Andrea Morrow.

Retreat Leaders

The Rev. Dr. Lauren R. Stanley
Ordained for 29 years, I have served in a variety as a priest in parishes in the United States, as a consultant and mission team leader in Honduras, as a missionary in Sudan and Haiti, a seminary professor in a seminary we were building from scratch as a mission priest on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and now as Canon to the Ordinary in South Dakota. I have been a pastor, a consultant, a traveling preacher, and a retreat leader for parishes, youth groups, adults, and mission teams. My MDiv is from Virginia Theological Seminary, as is my DMin, which focuses on the mission of our lives (it’s all based in Imago Dei). All of my being is based on Imago Dei, which sometimes can be quite challenging. Thank you for this opportunity to serve and partner with you in this women’s clergy retreat.

The Rev. Mary Caucutt
I have been ordained in the Episcopal Church for 33 years and recently retired early. I am a jack of many trades and master of few. My primary service locations have been small Wyoming towns, but I have also worked in Boston, San Antonio, Minneapolis, and St. Louis. I have experienced pastoral leadership as chaplain, associate, and rector. Wherever I find myself I serve on community boards and in diocesan leadership. Commitment to lifelong learning has led me to study at Luther Seminary, Harvard University, The Episcopal Divinity School, Trinity University and am currently in certification process with the Interim Ministry Network (IMN). My personal spiritual life unfolds through an Ignatian lens, and I completed the Spiritual Exercises in early 2020. I have led retreats for children, youth, and adults throughout my ministry in local congregations, for local leadership boards, and at the judicatory level.  I am excited and honored to partner with you all in this Provincial Women Clergy Retreat.
