January 2023 recording
Presentation: priest companion model of parish leadership.
A priest companion model was tested by St. Aidan's Ann Arbor in the Advent to Easter seasons of 2021-22. This model created a position that was more than traditional supply but not as extensive as an interim position. This position allowed the congregation (which had been in an extended search process) to share in the Eucharist twice a month, and to have several educational and pastoral support opportunities that would have been beyond the capacity of the lay leadership to provide. This model was very successful, providing a welcome respite for lay leadership during a time when finding permanent clergy was proving to be very difficult. Since that time St. Aidan's has called a permanent part-time vicar.
