The number of congregations with part-time or no clergy is growing in many denominations. This workshop will present an overview of this phenomenon, particularly its extent in Province V, along with a look at the related issue of Episcopal clergy shortages.
Creative approaches to supporting lay-led congregations have included priest companions, licensed pastoral leaders, mutual ministry, and bi-vocational ministry. We'll discuss what works, drawing upon lessons learned in the Province V Lay-led Congregations Network over the last several years. Participants will be invited to share their own experience.
Various resources will be presented, including online educational opportunities, leadership coaching, parish educational programs, liturgical supports, and the opportunity for mutual support through the Province V Network.
