#14 - Dismantling Racism in Dioceses and Congregations

Saturday, 3-4:30 pm
Presenters
Adrienne Dillon has been a member of the Diocese of Missouri Commission on Dismantling Racism since 2005 and was an alternate deputy to General Convention in 2018.
Tony Corey joined the Episcopal Church and St Timothy's Church (near St Louis, MO) in 2012. He is an active member of the Diocese of Missouri's long standing Commission on Dismantling Racism and founded St Timothy's Ministry of Racial Reconciliation.

Workshop Description
The Diocese of Missouri would like to share resources for understanding and confronting institutional racism. We will give participants an opportunity to experience interactive exercises and reflections from our two-day training as well as activities from congregational events. We will also discuss how to build anti-racism program at the diocesan or congregational level.

We have a FaceBook Group that emerged from our session at the Big Provincial Gathering this month. When our group was challenged to continue the conversation on Dismantling Racism we set up a FaceBook page while we were sitting there. Blog here and also join our conversation on FaceBook

Dear friends, Just checking in. It has been a busy July and finally back home and settled in. First time I have ever blogged! Not sure this is the way to do it. One more time: The BPG was a truly valuable experience for me. I loved the context of worship throughout the event. I valued meeting people and hearing their stories, personal and about their communities. I appreciate the whole style, logistics, venues, format etc. Thank you, to ALL! I am prayerful that we (within the domain of anti racism work) can progress toward sustainable dialogue that will be valuable for all of us. Utilizing whatever communication vehicle(s)works for us. Right now I am working on phone conversations with people I met. Rev. Heather, thank you for your recent e mail to a group of us. I hope to use that to continue the dialogue. Rev. Matthew, thank you for the Facebook page. Please be patient with me as I am not a social media person. Okay, I am going to hit "SUBMIT" now. Peace and blessings, Tony Corey, Missouri.
