How do I create a "Prayer Tent"? Seven suggested steps to consider; may vary based on your context.

1. Target group
Who is invited into the prayer space? Ages? Specific groups (e.g. youth, adults, Confirmation class, Sunday School, Vestry, etc)

2. Focus/Theme/Season
What will participants be focusing on? What disciplines will be introduced/learned/experienced? Is there a specific time of year desired?

3. Location
Inside/outside? Conference? Camp? Festival? Church?

4. Quantity
How many different prayers/practice will be introduced?

5. Supplies
What supplies will be needed to put this together? What is already available in space or local church/context? What needs to be found elsewhere?

6. Budget
Who is covering costs? How can the community pitch in? What can be donated?

7. Marketing
How will word go out to invite others in? Social media? Print media? Word of mouth? Etc?

What is a "Prayer Tent"? Who can run it?

Intentional space
-->A step out of usual routine or break in event
Multiple stations
-->It’s not “one and done”
Interactive
-->encourages us to pay attention to our words and actions
Intergenerational
-->can be tailored to any & all ages
Trying (potential) new forms of prayer
-->You might just find a new favorite way to connect with God

Kids (supervised)
-->Don’t underestimate the power of a child learning how to welcome others in.
Youth (mentored)
-->Great leadership opportunity, helps teach servant leadership and engages students to participate in prayer activities
Adults (lay or clergy)
-->While clergy are sometimes considered “prayer experts” (probably), the laity are a force of AMAZING prayer resources, too!

Where/When can we create a "Prayer Tent"?

Where: Churches | Chapels | Tents | Outdoors | Indoors | Festivals | Conferences | Anywhere that offers gathering space

When: Advent | Christmas | Epiphany | Lent | Easter | Pentecost | Ordinary Time | Literally any time is a good time for more prayer!
