Resolutions to Synod
Due to the Provincial Office ([email protected]) by March 25, 2022.
Provincial synods are allowed to submit resolutions for General Convention to consider. This is one of a synod’s most important functions, because resolutions are the legislation that General Convention votes on to determine the basic policies and operation of the Episcopal Church. Provincial synods can also submit to General Convention formal statements known as memorials. While resolutions call for General Convention to take a particular action or make a specific change, memorials convey information or a concern about which synod deputies want to make General Convention aware.
The Executive Board of Province V encourages all Synod Deputies, provincial networks, and those passionate about ministry across the province to consider drafting resolutions and/or memorials to present at Synod 2022. All resolutions approved at Synod will be passed along to the 80th General Convention.
This is an exciting opportunity for everyone involved in the work of Province V to help chart the future direction of the Episcopal Church at the highest level.
Everyone is encouraged to consider submitting a resolution or memorial on any important or urgent topic facing the Episcopal Church today. Please don’t let the guidelines or samples intimidate you, if you truly believe you have a good idea for a resolution or a memorial. The Resolutions Task Group stands ready to help anyone put their document into an acceptable form.
